At this point it’s a little like saying “gravity may affect apples”.
Of course, if I thought the Tory party could do a better job of things then I might be more tempted to find out where and how to register to vote in the next election. Frankly however, I dislike David Cameron (who is clearly cashing in on the Barack Obama popularity by shining himself up as a young, moderate but still white and completely unexciting version of the presidential candidate. Because to have excitement in British politics would be a terrible thing) and Gordon Brown (whatever one may think of him) did a fine job as chancellor of the exchequer, but unfortunately his credentials as an accountant have made him a less than inspirational leader of the flagging labour party. Also apparently he’s going blind which I don’t see having the same endearing affect as it does on American democratic Governer David Patterson who amazes me by being apparently far more competent than the majority of those in governership despite his obvious disability – I’d argue that we should deliberately employ more of those with sensory disabilities save that many of us all too well recall poor old David Blunkett whose “self made man” image was shattered by the scandal later in his political career.
In all honesty, I don’t think my vote would matter either way I vote. The Labour party are on the way out, they caught the fallout from the Iraq war and they’ll no doubt be seen as responsible for the financial mess we’re in by a large portion of the population, I very much doubt Labour will turn things around by 2010. Hell, maybe they’ll get fed up and just hold it asap to let someone else deal with the mess.
